See STIGMA on Friday 8 Dec in Shepparton!

GV Pride member special – quote promo code STIGMA for $25 tickets!

A confronting and dynamic live theatre and movement performance, examining the prejudices, discrimination and stigma experienced by people living with HIV.

STIGMA is a bold, confronting and dynamic live theatre and movement performance examining how stigma, prejudice and discrimination push those living with HIV to the margins of society. Shared from lived experiences, this series of provocations on the stigma of HIV/AIDS seamlessly blends dance and acting in an expressive portrayal of an often voiceless community.

This work contains full frontal nudity and sex scenes.

Stigma relates to a strong feeling of disapproval that people in a society have in response to something. People living with HIV experience this daily, in particular with regards to intimate and sexual connections.

STIGMA confronts self-hatred imposed by mass culture and the ignorance of the ill-informed and commercial media. It unpacks this difficult terrain with a revealing visual and artistic narrative composition.

Produced by Devize Co in partnership with CERSH, OSKA, Victorian AIDS Council, Living Positive Victoria, Positive Women Victoria and The Space Dance Centre

“Whilst somewhat disturbing in the truth, well devised, exceptional acting and dance, and a lesson to all”
    – Review by Graeme McCoubrie – Melbourne Starobserver

“Dance theatre, like most hybrid forms, is a doubly difficult beast to master, and Darren Vizer impresses with the clarity and intricacy of its art” – Plunge Melbourne Fringe 2015 (Cameron Woodhead, The Age ‘Four Stars’).

Tickets on sale now via Riverlinks. Reminder – quote promo code STIGMA for $25 tickets!

Join us on Thu 7 Dec @ 4.30PM for a FREE movement & theatre workshop too!
